Marc A. Forman, MD
Dr. Forman is a graduate of Haverford College (PBK) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (AOA). He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at the Institute of the Pennsylvania Hospital, and in Child Psychiatry at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Dr. Forman served as Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children from 1970-85 and in a similar position at Tulane Medical School from 1985-1997. He currently serves as Child Psychiatrist, Department of Behavioral Health, City of Philadelphia. He has over 80 publications, including co-authorship of 2 books on community child psychiatry and psychiatric hospitalization of children; child psychiatry chapters in 8 editions of the Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics; and journal articles on community psychiatry, school consultation and developmental disabilities.
Dr. Forman has served as a consultant to Family Services Association of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia, Silver Springs Martin-Luther School, and the Lafourche Louisiana Mental Community Mental Health Clinic. He has been a member of the Board of the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia, and the Institute of Mental Hygiene of the City of New Orleans. He currently is a consultant to, and the only North American Member of, the Board of Directors of the SARAH Network of Hospitals in Brazil, which consists of 10 rehabilitation centers in 8 Brazilian cities. He is a recipient of various honors, including Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, and the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal. Dr. Forman is a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the Royal Society of Medicine, a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
